Many of us reach for food not out of physical hunger but to feed some other need. The next time you feel hungry, think:
- Could your hunger be satisfied with something healthy, like an apple.
- Drink a glass of water slowly. If you are still hungry after 15 minutes, it is OK to eat.
- Did the hunger pang come on suddenly? This is your brain rather than your tummy that is hungry. Distract yourself by doing something else for 10 minutes and see if the craving passes.
