Well, a few weeks ago, one of my friends, Asher, ask me about free domain names. I have recommended her the Co.Cc as I think it is one of the best free domain that I know. It gives us the control of our own DNS, unlike the other free domains. However, I would like to share a few other free domains and their features - for those who are searching for free domain names.
My first choice is CO.CC - the coolest, and the most simple free domain, with no hidden cost, no ads, no linking back to the company and no-no for what other free domains ask you for exchange. Besides, this free domain gives you the domain mapping!
Well, do you know what is domain mapping? Domain Mapping is the process of pointing a registered domain name to a blog or photo album. Domain mapping is more than domain forwarding, because your permalinks and URL contain the address of your domain (www.you.co.cc), and not a sub-domain (example.blogspot.com).
Plus, with CO.CC, you can now use your own custom domain with your blog or customized services and you can create customized email accounts. e.g.- you@example.co.cc, me@example.co.cc. What makes CO.CC goes on the top of my list is, they provide you the easier instruction to link your CO.CC domain name with the Google Aps which will provide you free emails. Nice, huh?

UNI.CC is a free domain name that will help making your web sites more accessible using short and easy-to-remember Internet addresses. Plus, no banner ads and linking back!
This site provides domain name redirection service and a site builder tool. However, they do not offer any hosting, mail or FTP services at this time. (But, I guess you can try to link it with Google Aps for free email - harder because no specific instruction as given by CO.CC for Google Aps.)
This domain, as provided by CO.CC, also gives you the control of your DNS server, which gives you the flexibility as what you get from any website with .com domain.
The Dot.Tk Free Domain Name (www.your-domain.tk)
This www.your-domain.tk service is quite a reliable. It does not provide you the control of your DNS, however, it still gives you another advantage which Uni.Cc do not have - email forwarding service.
In Dot.tk, you can make two types of domain - the website forwarding or, the domain only used for the email forwarding. This means, if you already have your own registered domain such as www.allinfoavenue.co.cc, and you want to offer 250 free email service to your readers, you can just sign up for Dot.tk and get the domain for free email service to your readers, such as - username@allinfoavenue.tk. And this email provides the Human Interface Detection service - where you can set up your emails to receive only emails from real human only.
However, the email will be active if you received at least 10 emails in the period of 90 days. And unlike the CO.CC which links to Google Aps, your email need to be linked with external email inbox - such as my anneailing@allinfoavenue.tk will be linked to my primary mail anne.ailing@gmail.com, the email with .tk is just your virtual or surface email address. :)
What makes this domain name special is, they allow you to register unlimited domain names with them. But, there is a condition here, the domain names will expire when the users of your website are less than 25 people in 90 days.
But the disadvantage for this domain is, you will have the ads banners on your site. But, if you do not mind having a medium-sized banner on top of your website page, I think it is ok. :)

The CO.NR Free Domain (www.your-domain.co.nr)
Well, I do not have any free domain with this free domain provider yet. But, I have heard it also provides quite a good service. This domain requires no setup fees, no monthly fees, no yearly fees, no renewal fees, etc. And you can use your free domain name as long as you wish (or as long as our service exists). Plus, no banner ads!
It also provides the service of URL forwarding. However, I am not sure about the instructions on how to use the domain.

Hurm? This free domain service is quite similar to the .tf domain provider. It gives you various .tc domain names; co.tc, nte.tc and much more. No ads, and all the features in .tf is also provides by the .tc service. But I think the .tc sounds more pro, right?
The Biz.Fly Free Subdomain Names (www.your-domain.biz.ly)
This domain name service gives you 3 great options - free domain registration, free web hosting or free for both with the domain name of www.your-domain.biz.ly. Service is quite reliable.
They offer you Free Email Forwarding, creating unlimited Subdomains, Unlimited Email Addresses, and modifing all DNS records such as A, MX and CNAME records, and more. No banner ads!
However, they ONLY accept completely finished websites that are in English and require one link back to their website.
The Biz.Tc - Another Free Subdomain (www.your-domain.biz.tc)
Well, this subdomain service is quite generous - they also have the same features with the Biz.Ly subdomain provider. They have emails and suprisingly, no banner ads! So, for people who want to have free subdomain name and free web hosting with many great features, you can just grab this opportunity!
The EU.Org Free Domain Names (www.your-domain.eu.org)
