Have you ever met someone and you constantly said to yourself, "I don't know why, but I really like that person!". Or may be you have said, "There is something about that guy that bugs me. I can't quite put my finger on it."

You have just formed an impression of the other person. And most of our impressions are subconscious. We do not even know we are making them; we only know that we have an overall, general feeling about this person.

These are the eight impression that people will look and judge on you for the first seven seconds of meeting you.
  • How much money you make?
  • How much education you have had?
  • How trustworthy you are?
  • What your personality style and how agreeable you are?
  • How confident you are?
  • How intelligent you are?
  • What your work ethic is?
  • How dependable and accountable you are?
Yes, it might sound fair when people judge you by these eight "questions" in just seven seconds. And yet, these things pop out naturally. Based on the research, a little over half of them comes from your body language or physical sign. 38% are coming from your tone of voice, while only 7% are based on the actual words you say. Thus, do not ever be a smalltalkaphobia when meeting a new person, or networking - remember, the 7% should not let you be so much afraid of the situation.
