So, if you are working in a creative arena or field, you might want to try something new on your hairstyle (but please, this style not for the faint-headed people, LOL~!). Well,if you have tried this style, here is the tips on how to take the dread out of maintaining your locks.
- Try to resist the temptation to shampoo your new set of dreadlocks for at least two weeks. This is to allow your scalp to adapt to the new schedule. Once your locks are secure, it is ideal to shampoo every four days, depending on how your scalps feels.
- Use low-lather shampoos as it will not leave any residue behind. Avoid washing hair with hot water for it may melt the wax used to secure your twists.
- Conditioning should be skipped. Its softening function will loosen your locks.
- Squeeze excess water from each lock with a bed sheet as towels may lint on your hair.
- Once your hair is dried completely, begin the wax and twisting process again. Comb each lock back toward the scalp to get the tangled texture needed to maximize the twists.
